| The exhibition includes artifacts, photographs, documents, and video that record O’Connor’s youth, education, civic and legal career, and development into a national icon for women’s achievement as the first female Justice on the United States Supreme Court. In addition, it explores the influences on Justice O’Connor’s life and pioneering spirit that allowed her to become the leading female voice in America for nearly twenty-five years. | ||
Partnering with the O’Connor House Project at Papago Park, /ital/Sandra Day O’Connor - A Citizen for All Seasons/ital/ also highlights her current plans for achieving bipartisan consensus in solving important social and political issues in Arizona. Justice O’Connor’s adobe house has been relocated from Paradise Valley to a site right next to the Museum at Papago Park. It’s purpose is to become a gathering place “where civil talk leads to civil action.” “The exhibition is designed to demonstrate the overwhelming impact an individual can have on every level of American society,” says exhibition curator Aaron Monson. “In addition to sharing Justice O’Connor’s incredible life story, we hope it inspires visitors to take active roles in their communities and in the democratic process.” |
